The Winery

miramar winery mudgeeWith a history of making highly awarded and great drinking wines, Miramar Wines’ success reflects the effort and commitment of its owner and winemaker, Ian MacRae

A small family owned Vineyard and Winery located at the head of the Eurunderee Valley about 12km from Mudgee township, Miramar made its first wine in 1977 and has proven itself over the decades as a quiet achiever. Miramar has won more than 60 trophies; 183 gold, 170 silver and innumerable bronze medals at regional, national and overseas Wine Shows. No wonder James Halliday has consistently given Miramar a top rating in his publications.

During Vintage, the 250 tonne winery is abuzz.  Machinery, pumps and hoses move the contents of towering stainless steel tanks from place to place; filtering, racking and fining. Vintage is a combination of very long hours as much of the fruit is picked at night, before juggling available space in crushers, fermenters and tanks. It is evident that Ian is as much at ease with engineering as he is with wine-making as most of the equipment, tanks, pumps and buildings, have been made with his own hands!

Consider yourself our guest and experience a classic old-school cellar door wine tasting at Miramar. This is wine tasting the way it was meant to be… discovering undiscovered wines and colourful characters that make the Mudgee wine scene almost unique in NSW.

We are a short drive out along Henry Lawson Drive and the views are great! Bring a picnic lunch to enjoy under our beautiful eucalypts.

Ian is a lovely gentleman with an amazing selection of wines!!! The cellar door is in an unassuming shed at the front of Ian’s property. I highly recommend the Unwooded Chardonnay and sparkling Rosé . Make this a must see when you visit Mudgee. I promise you, you will not be disappointed.

Loved this place, especially the time taken by the gracious winemaker to explain some of the nuances of Mudgee wines.

The Fume Blanc was the stand out for me here, although I enjoyed the entire range.

Driving along Henry Lawson Drive Mudgee you find the Miramar Winery owned by (winemaker) Ian Macrae, who also does the cellar door. Talking to him, you find out everything you want to know abut these lovely wines. I had not heard of Miramar Wines before but so glad I was taken there to experience some lovely wines.
